Volunteer Ottawa’s Executive Director Network — November 26, 2026
Join us for a staff and volunteer training session, delivered in partnership with the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association, designed to build confidence and awareness in supporting individuals living with hearing loss. This training will introduce participants to practical resources, proven best practices, and effective communication techniques that can be applied in a variety of community and service settings. Staff and volunteers will gain the knowledge and practical skills needed to provide respectful, inclusive, and accessible support while creating positive experiences for people with hearing loss.
Through this session, participants will explore the different types and impacts of hearing loss, as well as the barriers that individuals may encounter in everyday interactions. The training will cover effective communication strategies, the use of assistive technologies, accessibility considerations, and accommodations that can make services and programs more inclusive. Participants will also learn how to foster welcoming environments that promote dignity, equity, and meaningful participation for everyone.
By the end of the training, staff and volunteers will feel better prepared to recognize diverse communication needs, respond with confidence, and contribute to a more accessible and inclusive community for all.
