Rideau Community Hub is a community of Social Service agencies currently residing at the former Rideau High School. The high school was decommissioned in 2017 by the Ottawa Carleton District School Board. Services provided at the hub include childcare, a food bank, immigration community resources, after school programs, community advocacy, services for isolated elders, and various indigenous cultural groups to name a few.
The social service organizations at the Rideau Community Hub provide a lot of essential community and cultural services to the Rideau/Vanier community as well as other surrounding neighborhoods. However, organizations tend to operate insular to one another. Rideau Community Hub Information Bulletin plays a crucial role in improving service accessibility, increasing participants’ access to community resources, and ensuring that unreached residents in Rideau, Vanier and surrounding neighborhoods have increased access to valuable community services and resources offered at the Rideau Community Hub.
